TRACK LAYOUT...

Hey all!

I need some help on some track plans. This is O gauge track.

I have 21 track pieces (that includeds a switcher track) plus a bumper and a half curve.

Out of the 21 pieces I have 8 curves plus the other half curve (the swicher is acting like one of those 8 curves) and 13 straights.

What can I make with only those pieces?

bump…

Does it take 8 curves to make a circle? There are not going to be many possiblities. Basically a loop with a single spur. It could be a paper-clip oval loop, or a squarish loop, but It all comes out about the same. The spur can be to the outside or to the inside. If on the outside (so the switch track is ocupying a curve position on the loop) then the spur can curve to be more parallel to the loop. Not much else one can do with that little amount of track. I suppose a forward-and-back push-pull could be done by just putting all the pieces end-to-end.

There aren’t a lot of O gaugers here, so perhaps we aren’t as familiar with it as we should be to comfortably advise you. You might find more help by stating in the title of the thread that it O that you’re talking about. That will draw the O gaugers in. Also, you could ask our brothers over at Classic Toy Trains Forum: http://www.trains.com/TRC/CS/forums/default.aspx?ForumGroupID=5

Much like Texas Zepher said- can you make a circle? If so, the straights and switch go somewhere in the circle… resulting in an oval? With a siding? There are not a lot of possibilities here. Suggest you get the track out and start connecting sections. It will soon become apparent.

You know what you have on-hand, so why not just play around with the various sections you have until you come up with a design that satisfies you. If needed, you can always buy additional section to close the gap. It’s kinda hard for anyone to come up with a design without actual track dimensions because not all your track and curves are necessarily the same lengths or radius. An oval with a small spur might work. Good luck

[#ditto] You might try buying a few more sections of track.[:)]
