Track pickup wires in BLI 2-8-0?

Working on replacing a decoder in a BLI 2-8-0 paragon 2. Have all the wiring done except 4 wires on the locomotive side. 3 blacks, 1 white. 1 black wire doesn’t have continuity with anything that I can find (using a multimeter). The other 2 black wires and the white wire ALL 3 have continuity with BOTH left and right driver wheels…

Any suggestions on how to wire up these 4 wires for track pickup???

Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum! Could some of the wires feed the headlamp?

It has a white wire? All wires out of the engine in the harness should be black? How many wires total does that harness have?

It had 6 black wires in a row, and then the black/white for the motor which were slightly out of line with the 6. Then a black and white down below the harness connections.

I connected the two down below to the two from the harness that had continuity with the track power from the driving wheels - seems to work so far.

One second. So the wire harness has just 6 wires, but it’s a Paragon 2? Paragon 2 should have at least 7 wires, if not 8. If it only has 6, then it’s an older original Paragon series. Makes a difference because I can generally tell what each wire is, as long as I know what series the engine actually is.

If it’s a QSI/6 wire harness, then the outside 2 are power, the next 2 are motor and the inside 2 are the headlight.

A picture of the decider and wires would be highly helpful at this point.
