Track Plan: Input Needed

I am planning a new layout in fair sized space and was hoping to get input on my trackplan. I played with the atlas software for a while and this is what I came up with. I wanted to include switching without overdoing it for the space I have. I have a single track mainline that runs off both ends for future expansion. The lower right hand tracks are for staging. Mainline curves are 22’ radius. One block is one square foot.

My Questions:

Is this prototypical for any real railroad?

What roads (if any) would serve industy on tracks like this?

What changes would you make?

Thanks for the help,

Nick

Heres my revised plan. The ends would stick out an extra two feet, with the center of any given point on the bench work being no more than 2’ away from the edge.

Most roads had areas where switching was intense. I would respectfully suggest a runaround track somewhere. Complicated switching is a great theme for a shelf layout. Have fun!

[#ditto] That was my first comment also.

I dont have room for a runaround track due to obstructions so I drew up another plan found below the old one. I was thinking about dragging out the mainline on the original plan an extra few feet on both ends. I though I could simulate mainline activity without having a full loop.

Looks to me like you have plenty of room for a runaround track. It only takes a few inches of width and a couple of feet alongside the track you already have.
