"Track plan madness"

Hi Gang,

I have a question for you, I have this track plan that I put together,it’s Nscale 17’x 19’ I think it looks pretty good, It’s a around the walls with two peninsulas, at each end it will have a reversable loop, it’s locale is in the Oregon coast mountains, but I see other track plans that seem to look just as good if not better, and I always try to find ways to add a piece here or there from each one, should I just go from what I have OR just start all over???[banghead]

It would be easier for us to give you advice if you posted a copy of your track plan.

It is always fun to start with a clean sheet of paper… [;)]

Then when you are done, you have two good track plans to choose from!

Operations! Ask yourself…

  • What am I trying to achieve in train operations for my specific goals, prototype inspiration, era modeled, etc.?
  • Do the alternative trackplans achieve my goals more effectively to satisfy my operational needs?

Many modelers use portions of other trackplans and combine them into their overall trackplan. For example: N Scale CR&T is converting MR’s HO Scale “The Chippewa Central”, but; it will only be 1/3 of the total trackage, and only on CR&T’s lower layout level.

Once you start laying track your going to modify your track plan. Everybody does, its just part of the process. Planning a layout has to be one of the most frustrating things I’ve ever done. I wanted the world but soon found out I wasn’t going to get it.

Thanks guys for your input and ideas, I will post my trackplan so you can see what I got, and please tell me what you think of it, of corse there will be changes along the way!!! that’s just how it goes[swg]
