Track Planning Software

Hello All,
Is there anyone out there that has experience in 3rd Planit and CadRail ? I have been looking at both and would like to know which one is the best. So far, after
reading about both I am leaning toward CadRail but would like to hear what some
of you, who use these, think about them.

thanks,
FAdkins

FAdkins,

Some of the guys do mention their personal preferences and what they like about both of them.

Tom

I have Cadrail here and like it. I have been using it for a few weeks now and would have to say it is fairly instinctual in how it works. (if thats a word) I did have an autocad class 10 years ago but doubt that has helped any as it was so long ago.

I have both. I recently bought 3rdPlanIt because it had been a few years since I used Cadrail and the learning curve was longer.

Hope this helps…Ken

I tried both out through their demo versions, and found 3rd PlanIt to be easier to learn and use. I’m about 1/2 way through building the layout I designed with it, and its ability to print 1:1 size templates has made constructing the sub-roadbed and roadbed a piece of cake.
