Track Planning Template

I saw photos of track planning templates in Building a Model Railroad Step by Step 2nd Edition by David Popp. I looked all thru Hobby Link website & can’t find anything other than Atlas paper templates for $2.99 or Minitrix for $33.99. Anyone have an Idea where to buy these?

I haven’t seen the book, but there are these templates:

Note that they aren’t very accurate in terms of turnouts, but could give you a rough idea as to what would fit. As others have noted, scaled-down copies of the turnouts you actually plan to use might work better.

If you are designing your own layout for the first time, before you draw a single line the very best thing to do would be to read John Armstrong’s Track Planning for Realisitic Operation.

Almost no one ever follows this advice, but I keep hoping folks will break the mold.
