I was looking though my HO book, and I found Atlas layout HO-31 for
the waterlevel western. Can this plan be converted to n-scale, and if so,
anyone have or know where I can find the info. I tryed using the RTS but
I can not figure out how to make it work.
thanks for any info.
Almost all or any HO-scale plan can be used for N-scale by dividing all plans by 1/2. That means a 4x8 HO layout is roughly 8x16 in N-scale. A better image: you can build 2 of those HO layouts on a 4x8 in N-scale. Clear as mud, right? Just remember to divide all figures by 1/2 and that HO plan will become an N-scale empire. Ain’t it great!! Have fun and enjoy.

PS: I model in HO.
I recommend when building HO plans in N scale, make the plan no less than 3/4 the HO size. A 4x8 HO plan would then be a 3x6 N scale plan. An HO 18" radius curve would be 13.5" in N scale, 2" track spacing becomes 1-1/2".
If you have the room build it in the same space as the HO plan. Just decrease the spacing on double track and between mains and sidings to N scale standard (usually in the 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" range)
Flex track will be required to get the proper curve radii. Either way there will probably need to be some minor adjustments due to different geomertry of the switches, but nothing insurmountable.
