track plans

can someone tell me were i can download track plans?

Why not create your own? That way you can build YOUR layout, not somebody elses.

There’s lots of free track planning software out there, and some of them do include a layout or two already done to get your juices flowing. One of them is…

Paste this into your browser and find the right track software download.download the software.its not long. Then you can actually design your trackplan by placing track sections on your screen. The actual way the track is on this plan is exactly how it will be when you lay it out on the layout.there are also track plans at the atlas site.pretty neat. ck it out.

Look two posts up from yours.

I’m with the guys who have previously responded - I think it is best to come up with your own layout plan, not copy someone elses.

However, in both of the layouts I have designed (getting ready to build the second one), I looked at countless layout designs that others have built, and gathered lots and lots of ideas from them, and incorporated some into my layout.

I am employed as a Network Engineer. However, I just couldn’t understand the track cad software, probably due to a lack of time to learn them. So, I instead use a track planning template - basically has all of the radii , turnouts, crossovers, etc., and I draw my layout onto paper.

Who makes the best plans? Real railroads of course. If you study real railroad track layout you will find many ideas you can incorporate into even a 4’ x 8’ layout. I am duplicating one mile of the PRR in Philadelphia that will be unique since it will be full scale and operate in real time. Why try to design a model railroad to represent the PRR when I can copy it? You can co this with any railroad you choose.
