I got a problem, some of the turns on my n scale layout are to sharp. Because of this the engine unhooks from the cars, and forces the first car behind the engine to derail. If I put the longer couplers on the engine, (it came with longer couplers), will it be able to go around the turns without the cars derailing. The engine is a Kato AC4400CW. Any help would be great.
what’s the minimum radius of the turns on your layout. Six-axle power is going to have problems with anything under about 11", and needs a bigger radius than that to avoid the “toylike” look. If your turns are too sharp, you may be faced with a decision: installing larger curves, or using smaller locomotives and cars.

Are you using transitions into your curves? If the radius isn’t to small this might help.

As a quick fix try putting a longer car next to the engine that swings as wide.
