[:D]Hello. I am new to Garden rail roading. My son and I are building a new garden railroad with two large water falls, a 5-1/2’ deep pond and several tunnels made of 12" tubular steel along with several bridges. I have about 8 or 10 issues of the garden railroad magazine but I have not found any information as to what type of wiring I should use, and if I should use conduit before laying the track ballast. We are planning on running some where between 400 and 600 hundred feet of track over a two year period. We would appreciate any advice you folks could help us with. We have a 220 w service installed for our pumps and 110w service installed for track power along with a 12 watt service night time lighting. We are just beginning our 2’ raised garden. The block walls are up on our 26’ X 41’ layout. Thanks George and Chris

How are you determining watt service?
You do know a toaster draws more wattage than that.

The advice is to put your wiring in conduits but in my opinion itsa waste of time. I don’t even bury mine i just push it downinto the stones etc, my wife came up with a great idea we, put bobby pins ( do you have bobby pins where you come from) around them and pu***he whole lot down in the earth, the bobby pins hold it down adn in place well. we don’t even use proper LGB wire, just normal speaker wire or small figure 8. I have some wire been down for about two years including two monsoon season and it still looks the same as when I pu t it down.
