Track

I am in the process of planning a hi rail layout but as I live in central Florida the only area can use is a screened in porch. do I have to worry about the type of track used, any suggestions?

It rains enough in Florida, right? I think Gargraves makes stainless steel track with plastic ties. Would work well for you.

Probably best to stay away from tin plate tubular. Best bet is nickel silver. You can get stainless steel but it’s expensive and harder to work with.

I would go with the Atlas nickle silver track. Since it will be subject to a lot of humidity I would have some concerns also about whether to use remote control or manual turnouts.

Shame you can’t close in the porch and install an small ac/heater as in FL you have 3 enemies really 1 rain 2 humidity 3 moisture from the water ( I use to live in FL myself. The best bet is above mention shame porch is only place if you could do a piece of ply wood cut down to fit under your bed and pull out when you want to use would be better than on the porch to be honest with you.

GarGraves makes stainless steel track but make sure that you get stainless and not tin plated track in GarGraves. Not all hobby shops will order GarGraves stainless steel track, go to the GarGraves website and order the track if you want it. A quick mention to help you out is to visit the Ross Custom Switches website as well because they carry some parts for GarGraves track as well and Ross switches don’t need adapter pins when used with GarGraves track.
