A friend of mine has been arranging an annual snow event on Steven’s Pass for the last few years. This year’s event was last weekend. It started out rather snowless, but the weather reports indicated things would change for the better. Boy, did they. We all had a great time. I thought I’d share a few of my better images here.
On Saturday I caught this EB Z train in heavy snow:

Sunday a dirt train out of Gold Bar was the subject of a couple of my shots:
At Big Eddy:

At Foss River:

Hope you find them interesting!
The Foss River trestle bridge (3rd photo) is the best ! “+1” to all the comments to it ! Go enter it in some art photo contests and win some prizes with it - actually, any/ all 3 of them !
The Big Eddy photo made the most of the heavy snow and the setting.
The 1st photo of the EB Z-train is different as a B&W image. Generally I’d be OK with that - around here were have mostly NS, so there’d be not much of a difference anyway [swg] - but I’d like to also see a color version as well to assess how much the snow muted the colors, and make a determination of which has the better effect.
Thanks for sharing (once again) !
Ottercove,
The framing of the Foss River Bridge photo is outstanding. I have been there and immagine you had an adventurous, if short, hike to get to your location.
The snow at the East End of Sky reminded me of just how hard it can snow on the West Side with those big heavy wet flakes.

Thanks for the comments!
The screeners over at RP didn’t like 4 color versions of the Merritt shot. I’ve always been a fan of Black and White images, so I took one more shot at getting it accepted.
You three guys deserve some kind of medal for hanging out in that weather to shoot those three shots! They really show the brutal weather conditions and a sure exercise in masochism, IMHO!
Congratulations!
P.S One of the comments mentioned " Dirt Train" Never heard that terminology before? Just Curious.
Yes, as the others…beautiful shots. And, the 3rd shot, gives me visions of the photographer climbing on and up to a not too easy place to get to. And then all the cold and snow on top of that…
Dedicated Plus…!
Thanks again for the comments.
The “third” shot at Foss River bridge is about the easiest shot I’ve taken there. I really just drove up and parked around the hill from the bridge and walked back down the road a bit (which passes under the bridge). I was looking for something different and two locations under the bridge caught my eye. I settled on the second one and it worked.
As far as “dirt” train goes, if I recall they are hauling contaminated soil from dredging somewhere on the Puget Sound to a fill somewhere east.
