Please vote and then share your comments.

Iam no photography critic but voted for picture #2, thought picture #1 was a little hazy. wstolper@yahoo.com

I voted for #2. I see lone locos all the time and its nice to whole trains. I also enjoy seeing the grade behind and below the train.

I went for #1. The dark sky really offsets the engine. I prefer the look of the UP to the CP(guessing it is CP from the paint scheme, be gentle if I am wrong[swg]).

Guys, again you have given us two good shots. I have yet to see any that I didn’t like in any of the submissions so far.

How about a Trains.com calendar??? Each month could have a split shot of an installment of Trackside.

I had to go with the first one this time around. I guess it just pulled me in with the “fall colors” of the engines and grass, and then the darker clouds in the sky. Just seems like the perfect picture for this time of the year!

#2

Had too go with number two this time, like the upgrade in the background.

Both photos have good lighting but #1’s is more dramatic. The yellow locomotives contrast really well with the dark sky and the golden grass. Also, the old pole adds to the composition and shows times past.

Had to go with Photo #1 this week.

I voted for #2, you have to like faded paint SD 40s!!

I voted for number 1. I believe that they are AC4400CW units and power is what they project even without a consist attached.

Both shots are great ! I went with No. 2,though. Just love the sense of raw power
grinding upgrade.

I picked #1 for 2 reasons:
1.) I like the darker sky
2.) I like the road and power better.
But, they were close, and I’d hang an 8X10 of either in my train room.

It would have to be #2 this week. Looking at #1 is like watching a strip show; barenaked is all I can say.

#2 - I prefer to see working trains and obviously this one is working.
For all we know UP (#1) is just sitting there going nowhere. [:)]

I liked the quality of the light in #1, 'tho it did throw a distracting shadow. #2 suffered imo from too much foreshortening from the tele-lens.

This week’s a ‘toughy’, but I voted for #1. The contrast of the sun-brightened engines contrasted with the dark sky is eye-catching. Also, you can see more of the details of the engines. I like close-up shots, but this time I didn’t vote for the closer one because you can see only the front-end details of the lead engine. As always, both are good pictures, tho’.

Number 1. I like the lighting and drama. Number two’s colors are somewhat garish. Number one would be even better if there was a good train behind the engines. The picture looks dramatic but the lack of cars makes it either unrealistic or comical.

I voted for shot 1. I love the contrast with the storm clouds and the angle of the sun.

Even though the emphasis is on “train pictures,” I voted for no. 1 for the location, dramatic lighting and sky.

I like the look of the grade in the background, so I voted for #2, I like those kinds of shots.
