Mike’s shot is excellent, however how anyone could vote for it against Erik’s photo, mystifies me!!! Erik’s shot is just superb,magical. But thats just my opinion of course.

I voted for Mike’s picture – much more dramatic, with the lighting and the view of the whole front end of the train. And the headlights!!!
nice rain shot,i use a canon A75 works nice . i’m thinking of ordering the underwater kit for the wet shots. keep the interesting shots coming
As a total novice to professional photography, I’ll never understand how it is possible to capture the “streaking light” of a passing locomotive while the backgound (trees, brush, etc.) remain in perfect focus on the print. This is indeed a remarkable accomplishment, almost magical. My vote went to Mike’s shot which captured the bleak gray stillness of a dreary mid-western night being broken with the sight and sounds of a long drag plowing through the raw, cold wind and rain. Also, the composition and perspective of Mike’s photo appealed to me in an aesthetic sense.
Howdy High All! I’m Kevin & this is my 1st time voting & posting a message. I thought that both Pic’s were almost perfect. Mikes with the lights creating tiny prisms in the rain! Then with dusk coming on you can really see the true power of the large Locomotive as it is powering on down the line with its load. On the other hand Eric’s picture has great detail going for it. You can almost feel that it’s going to be a long haul that night. It’s criminal that the lights were turned down just at that moment. Yet I see a lone bright light down low near the step up. It is almost like the north star marking the way. I had a tuff call because they are both GREAT Photo shots. If Eric’s pic had the lights lit I’d have to call a Draw. But the rain in Mike’s photo swung my vote for his Photo. Both of them should be hella proud of their ceations. I’m gonna save them both & start an album so later on when I gather enough good pictures I can make a Slide show That I will share. Thanks Gentleman. I’m Kevin and I live in SanJose, Calif. This time I voted Erik. I want to point out that I always vote for the photo. I never vote against a railroad or a color scheme. It’s only fair.
I like both but I’ll vote for #2…more unusual.
