Trackside with Erik and Mike, Vol. 52: June 5, 2006

The latest installment of Trackside with Erik and Mike is now live within the Railroading section on the Trains.com home page. Please read this week’s column first then vote for your favorite photo album below.

If it was down to single pictures, Mike’s night shot would definitely be the one. Unfortunately, I didn’t think the acerage of thaqt album was quite as good as Bergie’s…

I guess I’m starting to like shortline and branch railroading better than mainline railroading. Mike’s night shot really took the cake. I really liked Erik’s last shot though - too bad he didn’t capture the whole train in that shot or that would have been really neat.

Erik had some really nice photos. If his last shot had captured the entire train it would have been awesome. However, I think the photography of Mike’s night shot and Mike’s picture of the 1:1 model railroad with the switching of the Ag company with the higher trackage of the warehouse as a background added up to a better photo album. So, in summary, both albums were greatly enjoyed but I felt that Mike’s entries edged out Erik’s so Mike got my vote. Thanks guys and I am very happy to see Trackside back to a regular schedule (I hope!).

I PERSONALY CAN NOT VOTE. AND WHY? BECAUSE THEY BOTH LOOK GOOD. I LIKE BOTH OF THEM. ALLAN.

Erik’s photos tell a story. Mike’s do not.

Mikes night shot won me over for the contest although Erik’s series of BNSF shots were excellent. As usual the contest could have been won by either and I really had a tough time desiding on the winner.

Mike’s! Love those Lights!

Well, Erik you left the safety of Wisconsin for the rattle snake land of Western Nebraska…great stuff, come back soon…

The night shot is the best. It is now on my desk top

Had to go with Erik’s, loved those hilly shots!

[;)]Okay, I’m in a quandry right now. My fave picture of any is the night-time shot of Mike’s, but I’m going with Eric’s album because he had more than just the one that was really great. Love that wide shot of the empty coal train with the hills in the bground!

Voted for Eric. I love those all encompassing shots with plenty of train in them. Too much head on with mikes. Both were great and it was a tough decision

I voted for Mikes, as i think Wisconsin is a great spot to railfan. Prairies, woods, and little towns. Plus, Mike has a WC unit! Lol.

Gotta Love Wisconsin!!

HI! I`m still using my Reb. 6 meg! I thought the thumbwheel I have on the right front top in behind the accuator button involved the f stop function. I think thats somewhere in this next years learning agenda, what two buttons for f on 6 meg Reb.? And why a d20? What is a D20? Did I miss something?
LATER!

Erik is talking my language. Nice pics Erik, you got my vote.

Eric Wins this one hands down!
Quick Question to throw out here? Why is BNSF trying to cover (repaint) all the BN Green, and yet they are dragging to repaint the SF colors?

Mike’s “down home” photos took the prize for my part. Erik’s photos are not to be triffled with, that’s for sure; but the nitty-gritty implicit in Mike’s shots is what swayed my vote.

Sorry…too close to call. These are great pictures. How fortunate you had enough elevation for the coal train shots to be able to see the tops. If you had been a foot or so lower, those shots just go ordinary.
The nite shot is fantastic. Hard to make those shortline shots interesting isn’t it?
Great Volume guys…keep up the good work.
