Last night I posted the latest installment of Trackside with Erik and Mike. This week there’s a CP-leased CEFX AC4400CW, a BNSF hopper in beautiful paint, a hot CN unit, and for my eastcoast friends, a CSX locomotive for the voting photo. (Enjoy Joe!)
Bergie,
I posted on this one,and it wound up going to Trains.com.
However, this is a great thead, hope you and Mike can keep it going!
And those are GOOD shots![^]
Hi Erik - nice job as always. Wish you could have seen Duplainville back in Milwaukee Road days.
Have you guys ever gone to Byron Hill on the WC/CN? Just south of Fond du Lac – you shoot from a bridge looking north on a large s curve. With the right lens some very dramatic shots are possible, and I think this is the ruling grade on the WC/CN (ex-Soo) line to Chicago – the engines really work hard and in steam days this was a helper hill. Not too far a drive from Kalmbach headquarters.
We were north of Duplainville, Wis. a couple of miles. There’s a former driveway that used to cross the tracks… now there are baracades there that closed the driveway. Makes for a good place to park.
Shot # 2 appealed to me also, with the rest of the train trailing away into the distance, it made for a more eye pleasing composition.
Almost looks like a mechanical snake or centipeed, running down the tracks.
