Trackside with Trains.com vol. 146 "EMD's 60s" available to view and vote

Eight train photographers entered this round’s theme: “EMD’s 60s.”

Rough competition today. Despite wanting to vote for Alex or Mystery Joe on the basis of spectacular scenery, I went with Andy’s shot. You could identify the locomotives as 60s (oh, all right–they might have been SD50s if I didn’t know better!), and see their numbers. I really preferred the “spartan-cab” version over the SD60Ms, so that ruled out the neat front-end shot in Rochester as well.

While offering comments on preferences, I prefer the old way of presenting the photos, in which one could scroll up and down for relatively quick comparisons. The thumbnails are nice at the top, but you really need all of the shots and commentaries available to be seen together.

Hmm… This thread needs a thumbtack.

Great selection but it appears that the “friends of Alex” have again gotten in their votes.

I went with Drew’s shot.

I went with Mike’s shot, urban settings always look better to me.

I went with Joe H.'s shot, even though I think he juiced the color a bit to get that BLUE sky. Nice angle and composition. Looks like Alex’s extended family has him in the lead at this point.

BTW, the new format could use a little tweaking. Really need to see the whole shot to compare - zooming thumbnails don’t really show enough detail. And what’s up with no link to this comment thread?

Hey, what does it take to become the chosen one like Joe H.? Do you have to know a guy that knows a guy?

Bump.

Where was the link to the opinion forum for Trackside in the last round of photos.

I couldn’t find a link anywhere…and digging around the the “Forums” / Trackside section I found some old exchanges but nothing current.

My suggestion would be to return the link to the comments site to the bottom of the voting page.
