Best,
Voting is probably going to be quite parochial. I love New England, originally for North Jersey, am living in the Southern Tier of NY, admire the midwest, am awed by the west. So…on a scale of one to tne these pictures depict the topic between 9.75 and 10…So, Alex Mayes Fairhope, PA tipped the leaf bag and lit the pumpkin!
Gave up on the “reader submissions”?
Good to see this back again!
The ‘click here for larger picture’ doesn’t seem to work – at least on my system. It did before.
The first time I tried to enlarge a photo, I got a tiny box in the center of my screen that had scroll arrows top and bottom, and I could see perhaps 10 pixels of the image; I would then close the “enlargement” and immediately try again–each time I did this double-step, the image appeared enlarged.
I would be inclined to believe that, at least as far as railroading goes, the colors along the old B&O Sand Patch line would be unequaled. But that’s just my preference–someone else, for example, might like the nothing-but yellow one sees in the Colorado Rockies when the aspens turn.
However, my vote was a little more personal this time: went for Mike Roque’s shot along the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad, in New York. For those who don’t know, this is the railroad at which Nance (“Wmnb4thrtl”) volunteers. I would have been there on the 16th, at the peak of colors, but circumstances didn’t permit. Pat and I were able to see some of the property on the 17th; maybe sometime we’ll get to see the parts away from the roads.
Couple of comments: Andy–Should/could this thread be made sticky, so it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle until Judgement Day?
Anyone–I had no problem enlarging things.
(And tomorrow, we get to rake up a goodly portion of our own autumn splendor and send it away.)
…I almost decided to not vote. I consider many of these photos are very nice “railroad” themed photos, and of course adhering to the theme: Fall.
But I’ll have to just bite the bullet, and considering what I chose, as a clear, sharp railroad pic. of course with the “Fall” theme…and a bit off the norm, and containing color.
I will vote for Mike Roque’s rendition.
Good to see you back!! Nice turnout, even without a reader submission. Some nice shots…for some reason I liked the pumpkins in the depot, & voted for it. I see I don’t have much company.
I had no trouble with the enlarging feature.
I liked it when there was a link from the pictures to the comment forum. Any chance of restoring that?
How do you know what the next subject theme will be? Am I missing something?
Thank You

Oops…I see there is a link to the forum page, its on the first page in the original Trackside announcement box. Sorry about that. However, when I clicked it, it sent me to Vol 172 forum.
