Trackside with Trains photo contest Week of June 22 "Last light"

Hi, Trains Nation!

The next trackside with Trains photocontest is live and ready for voting: http://trn.trains.com/photos-videos/trackside/2015/06/last-light

This week’s theme is “last light” and there are some really outstanding compositions on display.

Good luck to all who have submitted!

All were good, all had the theme down pat…had to go with the one that simply caught my eye the most, almost a toss- up between Tom and John….kept going back to Tom’s shot, so went with that.
Noticed two ladies in the mix this time, good deal, about time!

I also tossed Tom’s and John’s photos around for a while and settled on Tom’s. I think the dynamics of the sky in both caugth me…

A really great set this time, but I ultimately went with Buddy Long’s. The sun is already gone so it truly is the last light. Note how high the sun is in Tom’s photo; there would seem to be at least 10-15" minutes before “last light”. Great picture otherwise though.

I went with Theresa Cramer’s shot at West Chicago. This is so similar to how I see my train in late winter when I get off.

I voted for Tishia’s. Yeah, the sun is still shining and it may a “glint” shot more than a “last light”, but it’s pretty spectacular all the same.

All who know me and know my trainwatching preference knew I’d pick your shot over my own. Relatively new to railroad photography (began shooting in March 2013), my past railfanning experience was centered around catching night trains exiting tunnels lighting up valleys along the NS Lower Clinch Valley Sub in SW Virginia with my dad when I was growing up. ~Tish
