Trackside with Trains Vol. 226: "Shiny" is OPEN

Good morning!

Trackside Vol. 226: “Shiny” is now open for voting!

Thanks,

Drew Halverson

It looks like so far most voters have gone for the Zephyr shot. It’s a shoo-in, I’m sure.

I went with the UP Centennial shot at the Illinois Railway Museum, for two reasons:

  1. Lance Wales actually captured Alcor! (Look it up!)
  2. Any time you can get lights to reflect off a UP locomotive is pretty rare!

Well, I finally got back in sync with the majority on this one. Terry’s shot of the stainless steel Zephyr is about as shiny as anything connected with railroading gets.### Tom in Nashville

All that glitters tis not gold…nor stainless steel. Tom Nano got my vote because that cab was spic and span, shining with brand new paint from top to bottom, and presented with shining pride those who brought it to this condition!

The Nebraska Zephyr is THE living shiny train. Period. The shot of it is very nice, but it could have been in the mis-exposed, out of focus and crooked and I’d have still voted for it!

FWIW, NC Transportation Museum’s streamliner gathering is, so far, missing this train. If they manage to get it there, I’m going!
