Hello,
I have one bing 1920s and one hornby date unknown, tin plate locos.
Unfortunately they are not of the original paint, I would like to restore them and seek advise on how to remove old paint back to bare metal without damaging what appear to be lead castings, dome, funnel , safety valve base.

I use bucket of SimpleGreen concentrate. It worked great stripping the paint form the pre-war Lionel I have restored. After the paint is softened, I used an old tooth brush to get in the crevices Best of all the Simple Green is non-toxic and I work with it without gloves. When I am done, I snap the bucket lid on and save until I start the next project.
