Rock Ridge Mine–Okay you have to imagine it. The hoist house and mine shaft are on the bluff and the tipple is filling the center ore car. There is a tressel that connects the mine to the tipple. The Heilser is on the Rock Ridge Siding. http://www.vitaconnect.com/Photos/TrainCity03.jpg
Nice pics, Chip! Cool!..thanks! [:)] I think Shane (cute little guy, by the way) definitely needs a conductors hat while he’s runnin’ Dixie, doncha think?
I designed the layout using Atlas RR and used EZ track to build it. It didn’t fit. So I took it apart and reframed it. I did add a 6" section, but I wouldn’t call it shelf. It is more like a split table.
You can probably pick one up when you go to “Timmy’s Admodium” in a couple weeks. They’ll probably have tons. Either that or your LHS ought to have one.
Other than having a few “bugs” [:D] you have to work out, the layout looks good!
One quick question…in the dinosaur pic it looked like you had a horn-hook car coupled to a car with Kadee couplers. Are you able to run them that way and if so, do you have any problems with them uncoupling or derailing?
I just cut the horn part off the coupler of the Dinosaur Car. To get them to hook-up with the Kaydee, you pretty much have to drop the cut horn coupler into the Kaydee. It does not uncouple without lifting the cars and twisting a little. No derail problems so far.
you might be right . how does he do on long car rides ? if you don’t tell him where you’re going how excited will he be when you get there and he discovers he’s in a huge world of trains ? how dissapointed will you be if his excitement only lasts an hour ?
you could go without him , i’m sure he be tickled pink with a conductors or engineers hat when you got back
