Train detection

Hi all,

I’m after a current detection solution for a DCC layout. I have already put momentary contacts in and I’m happy with them, but I want double security for detection with current detectors and also there are some sections so short momentary sensors do not make sense.

My detection module is from ROCO and is pretty much as any other, I believe.

What I’m looking for is a current detecting circuits (DIY or ready-made) that would return “closed” when the current flows through a wire or the circuit itself. Any experiences? Suggestions? What work and what does not? Links appreciated.

Thank you.

Get a cup of coffee and Google “DCC block occupancy”. There will be enough reading to keep you busy for a while.

brrr…

Don’t I sound like I have been through the Google thing? Believe, I have read it all. Still, what I’m looking for is what people here have success with.

Forgot to mention I need something that I can purchase/deliver to Europe.

Thank you.

This would be ideal, but I think it only does S-88 Bus. But it might be worth asking?

My suggestion is a Uhlenbrock 63340. Of course, this works only with Loconet compatible systems (Digitrax or Intellibox). This device is highly programmable (you can configure each sensor separately as normally open or normally closed). Plus its available in Europe.
