Yes, it can’t be said enough: DO NOT TRY TO BEAT A TRAIN!!
My heartfelt condolences to the families. We had the same thing happen around us,
about 1 1/2, 2 wks. ago, in Shepherdsville, KY. It happened on a private road. The
young man was killed. His fiance and their baby survived. The baby was in
a car seat, was ejected, and found several yards away, still strapped in it’s
seat.
Operation Lifesaver said it best:
When there’s a tie at the crossing,YOU LOSE!
My condolances to the family.[:(]
The weight comarison between a locomotive hitting an automobile,is equal to a person stomping on a soda can!
TIE GOES TO THE TRAIN!!!
Condolences:(
Yes sorry that somone made a bad decision to try to beat a train. We had a supermarket driver whacked here last week.
I have a lot more sympathy for the engineer, who’s train hit this car. He had no control over the situation, and I would bet that even though he is not at fault for this accident, he has to live with it for a long time to come. I would be having nightmares over what happened at that grade crossing if I were in his shoes.
I know what the train engineer is going through I had a guy hit me when I was driving trucks back in 1996. He hit my rig with enough force to tear the cab of my tractor away from the frame.
