I would like to see it myself (although I would probably never buy one). I would imagine it is similar to the hi level shells as far as the type of plastic and the amount of body detail. I would also like to know what details are included in the kit. I do see that the interior kits are available for the lower portion and dome.
I don’t think there would be any disappointment with this kit. All of their stuff (and I have used a lot of their products) have been top notch so far.
Yeah, thats what i was thinking too. But I would like to see the kit to make sure it is with in my skill range. By the time I get the kit and interiors for the dome and lower section it is going to be close to 100.00 already.
Does anybody know if the newer TSP passenger car kits are going to come decorated like the Santa Fe hi level cars do? That would seem to make a huge difference for some modelers. The Union Pacific paint for passenger cars could be a pain, especially with the decalling for the red stripes.
I just ordered one for my UP business train. Hope to provide a brief review of the model once recd. I’m debating wheter to order TSP’s BN Dome Theater as Walthers lists it for an Aug release date.
The reason I asked is that the hi level cars are available painted and lettered from TSP. I believe the Amtrak baggage car comes undec though. I am really anxious to see what the biz car looks like.
Biz car? I didn’t know TSP was planing on releasing a biz car. I know they will be releasing the BN Dome Theater car in Aug 07 at 60.00 w/out an interior-just the way I like so I can add Red Cap Lines interior. By the way Smitty, what is your current project? I’m currently adding an interior to my Coach Yard SP business car Sunset.
I am talking about the business car you mentioned, the “Glacier View” in both the BN and the BNSF versions. I don’t know if they are releasing both because they come painted, or because the BNSF made enough changes to the car that making two seperate models was necessary. I am not familiar with the BN biz cars. I am assuming that BNSF added fluting and the theater window???
My current project is layout work, but my next passenger train project will be a late '50s Sunset Limited. I already bought the power for it (PA/PB/PA set from PCM). I plan on using interior details from Red Cap. Their stuff is pretty nice. I also like the interiors from Palace Car Company because of the simplicity. I am using the styrene sides from Union Station Products. I am really looking forward to this project.

Well, it came in and I ran down to caboose to pick it up today. I am totally disappointed. [:(]
All that is in the kit is two car sides, trucks, diaphrams, conduit, couple under body details and the steps.
For almost $50.00 dollars I was thinking it would be a complete car shell. The instructions point out that we have to get a donor car for all the other parts needed.
Crap, and I just ordered one. My bubble has just been busted. I was thinking of ordering the BN dome theater car. I hope it doesn’t come the same way. Do the instructions provide an e-mail for TSP?
Sorry, no Email or Phone number in the directions. To top it off the donor car has to be a RIVAROSSI of all things! They are not even made anymore. I bought on off EBAY but this is getting to be really expensive. There is no window glass/plastic either. Not sure what to do about that.
I know, we can wait for Intermountain to release the car in assembled form and pay about 75-80 clams for the car. Or buy a Rivarossi at a swap meet, Keep the roof and pitch the rest of the car and modify a TSP underframe. But, by the time you complete the model, cost wise, it would be cheaper to buy the car assembled by Intermountain. Or, I could pay 450.00 for the Overland Models version in Brass.
