Does anyone know of a web site that allows the public to track train traffic across the United States? I had heard there were some available but so far cannot locate any. I personally thought that with all of the secuirty in place it really did not seem logical that any railroad would make this information
available but I thought I would ask anyway.
Each major railroad tracks their rolling stock by computer and the electronic identity tags on the cars, and their dispatch centers track complete trains, but I don’t think this information is released to the public on any Web site after 9/11.
That sounds about right. I’ve turned the web inside out looking for the traffic tracker for the KCS trains.
Thanks very much. I bet you are correct that this information would not be made public. Guess I will just keep using my scanner when out watching trains.
