Looks like a planned burn.
Nope. Wasn’t planned. Nobody seems to know what started it but it’s said there was some kind of construction going on in the area. The fire started at one end. The bridge was fully engulfed when the fire depts (three volunteer depts responded) got there and there wasn’t anything they could do. Not enough manpower, not enough water and not the right equipment. When that much creosote is burning it puts off a tremendous amount of heat. I was a fire fighter for seventeen years. I always hated fires involving creosote and lighter pine. About all you can do is keep the fire from spreading. Most times you’re not putting it out.
When we had the dock fire at work the creosote timbers burned from the inside out. took a few days to put everything out.
