Train Trivia 1/25/06 (ANSWERED)

In 1981 the original John Bull was restored and operated on B&O’s George Town Branch (near Washington DC) to celebrate it’s 150th birthday and the fact that it was the worlds oldest operating self propelled vehicle.

Well I would say 1981. Of course you are, I hope, talking about the Steam Locomotive brought from England back in 1830 or 31 (I think) not the English Composer and Organist of the early 1600’s…??? The little engine was retired after the civil war. It was an amazing locomotive for its time. Said to be a easy steamer, smooth on the tracks and quite versatle. I have seen her at the Smithsonian several times. [8D][8D][8D]
