The UP in there historical passenger fleet used for business trains and steam specials, etc, has an inspection car named “Idaho” and a deluxe sleeper named “Wyoming.”

I guess some Amtrak sleepers are named after states? Because I heard that the moniker “New York” had to be taken from such a car because some of the Amtrak patrons thought it heralded the car’s destination!
Eighty percent they’re ignorant; twenty percent they took sleepers in Europe and got overcautious here.
I only know the Idaho and the Wyoming, no Montana. However only the Idaho had a passenger train named after it. The Idaho went with the Challenger on its last run.
