Train Trivia 10/7/05 (ANSWERED)

What Sate currently has a passenger car named after it?

  1. Montana
  2. Maine
  3. Wyoming
  4. Idaho

PS. I hope this isn’t too easy, after the last two you may may have expected another hard one.

All of them?

I would have to guess “all of them” as well, unless you want to restrict to a particular line or era.

All right currently, then, forgot to mention that.

The UP in there historical passenger fleet used for business trains and steam specials, etc, has an inspection car named “Idaho” and a deluxe sleeper named “Wyoming.”
Jeff

Yea, there an An Idaho and a Wyoming Car.

I would there’s a 28% chance that the correct answer is #1 -Montana

I guess some Amtrak sleepers are named after states? Because I heard that the moniker “New York” had to be taken from such a car because some of the Amtrak patrons thought it heralded the car’s destination!

Eighty percent they’re ignorant; twenty percent they took sleepers in Europe and got overcautious here.

Wasn’t it you who stated something about 5 out of 4 Americans can’t do fractions? Is this also true regarding percentages?

Creative sarcasm is not for the weak mind.[:)]

Wyoming

I’m pretty sure it’s Wyoming.

They’re stilled baffled on the Model Railroader side, dont’ run over and give it away though. I wonder if Railfans are smarter, or somehting?

Touche’

Wyoming.

  1. Montana
  2. Maine
  3. Wyoming
  4. Idaho

All of the above.

I am going to say Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana

I only know the Idaho and the Wyoming, no Montana. However only the Idaho had a passenger train named after it. The Idaho went with the Challenger on its last run.

Am I missing something here? Doesn’t Amtrak have sleeping cars named after 48 states and DC?

Never heard of them, but then I never was an Amtrack fan, sorry, could have made a good trick question.
