Train Trivia 11/2/05 (ANSWERED)

  1. By the way I found a new smilie for UP bashers.

Oh, I’m the first one here, and I don’t know, so I’ll just sit on the sidelines until tomorrow to find out…

i’m going to go with 1936, the passenger heyday![8D]

The peak was in 1916. After that, more milage was abandoned than built each year.

DOH!![:0] well, if i’m wrong, it sure wont be the first time.[;)][:D]

I voted 1923. I figured that it was after the War, business was booming, air travel had not yet caught on, and the Depression was still six years away. NYC was looking to replace their passenger pullers with something a bit more powerful, so the J-1s were soon to come on line…they were spending money on locos, so there must have been good business.

Anybody else?

I guessed 1916

1916 254,000 miles

I say 1916.

I guessed 1923, not really sure why. I doubt it was 1936, since that is depression time, so I assume the numbers would have already been going down prior

1916

I was right, and I guessed! Sweet!
