Train Trivia (ANSWERED)

Sorry about missing a few days I went to protland to see Neil Diamond, the Uninon Station, and the Challenger. So here is today’s question (answer tommorow at 10 p.m. E.T.)

ABOUT HOW MANY TONS OF COAL WERE BURNED BY THE LEGENDARY BIG BOY PER HOUR?

  1. 6-8
  2. 8-10
  3. 10-12
  4. 12-14

…On avg. 28 tons per hr. climbing Sherman Hill @ a constant 40 mph…Other sources have it at 9 to 12 per hr. on some kind of avg.

Glad to have an authoritative answer.

A whole heck of a lot, and from what I have seen in photos I will take diesel exhaust to coal smoke any day as an air polluter, but I gotta admit that those coal smoke “shows” were really impressive.
