Trainland in NY

Is Trainland in NY worth going to? I am going to be in the city and was wondering if the retail store is as promising as their ads? Thanks.

DMcG14,

Haven’t heard of Trainland. Do you mean Trainworld, in Brooklyn? You can get some VERY good deals at Trainworld. I’ve never been there. I’ve only dealt with them online.

DMcG14, keep in mind that if you have any specific or prototype questions you want answered, Trainworld won’t have the knowledge base like a LHS would. (Just sales people) But, if you’re looking for bargains and you KNOW what you want, it would be a terrific place to pick up a locomotive cheaper than just about anywhere.

Well when you look at their website, they have a Trainworld and Trainland, the first being in Brooklyn and second in Lynbroook (right outside Brooklyn I believe), I was wondering if anyone had been to either of the stores and if was worth the effort of going there while I was visiting NY

Yes, both stores are a great place to get deals.

Back when I was a pre-teen with O-guage Lionels, I used to love to stop there. As it happened, it was right on the way from our home in the burbs to the city apartments where my parents grew up. At the time, it was a large LHS called Muraney’s Trainland, and they had a large operating O-guage layout in the window.

However, that was almost a half-century ago. Does anyone have any more recent info?

There was someone on here a couple of months ago who said that Trainworld was his LHS. Perhaps you could search the forum and send him an email.

Trainland is located in Lynbrook Long Island. If your driving take Sunrise Highway East to Lynbrook. By train take the LIRR to Lynbrook Station and walk east about two or three blocks. Trainworld is located in Brooklyn NY. Both stores are very good at having the latest and greatest in stock. I used to go to the Brrooklyn store but now that I live on LI, I go to the LI store.
