jim: as I watched the live streaming, I realized the importance of words communicating more than facts. Trains connected me with the machines, but it was the people I have come to know in person and in print. This makes our mutual affection alive and crucial to my life. David Plowden made this point beautifully: he described an experience with a GN engineer. Mr. Plowden knew the name of the man and instantly this word picture is alive once again. David P. Morgan’s timely reference to Scripture coinciding with the story of railroading, reveals to me why this magazine is important: railroading has a spiritual side, not just physical. The photography and stories reinforce this for all of us. Interpreting the concrete and steel and wood and the people of railroads through eyes and hearts will always make Trains indespensible for my life. Thank you
I see Frailey dodged the camera.
I KNEW I was at the power table when I sat with Tom Hoffman and his wife! I just KNEW it. What a great event - glad I made the trip.
Photo captions would have been appreciated!!! “Who’s Who” in TRAINS world???
Agreeing w/ John - Captions Needed.
I triple-dog agree with John and James about captions being very much needed, even though I did recognize my longtime friend David Lassen in the second photo hiding behind a neck-tie!
