Trains and Snow Capped Mountains

We’re finally getting some spring weather in the Puget Sound area. Yesterday was very nice (today might be better), with clear skys and snow capped mountains everywhere. Spring days like today ring out “Photo Op” because the Olympics still have lots of snow.

So with little time to spare I headed to a favorite spot, after finding out that #11 had just left Tacoma while I was in the middle of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. I was pretty sure I wouldn’t beat it to the Chamber’s Creek Bridge, but as you can see, I did. Lots of horns for several minutes before the train appeared, suggested a MOW crew north of the bridge, slowing #11’s progress enough for me to get the shot. Anyone from the area know what work is being done?

Great shot!!!

I used to live in Seattle and on a nice day there is not a prettier place on earth

[tup] Very nice photo - well worth the rush - shows the bridge very well. I see the tide was out.

And with the snow-capped mountains in the background ? You’re killing me here, man !

But keep’em coming. Thanks for sharing.

We’re gonna have to put you and Chris head-to-head in a Trackside…

I visited Steilacoom for a couple of hours on a Sunday on a visit to WA when my son lived in Tacoma. There was no rail traffic. If he was still there I’d be camped out there for a whole day.

A most beautiful shot. Seems we’ve seen another view of that bridge from similar location some months back…Sure seems like a “different” design lift bridge.

Have been in the area {Seattle}, but just passing thru for Uncle Sam via rail from the east to meet a water transport U S had for me to head west.

Cool! Literally!

Another great one! [tup]

Thanks for the nice comments. Glad you liked the photo.

Here’s a link to a slideshow I did of the bridge a couple years ago.
