Trains Backissues Discovered

While going through a HobbyShop in Alton Illionis, I dscovered a large box with back issues of TRAINS selling for $1.00. Since I like back issues, I bought it…When I got it home…I was shocked at my find…In side was ONLY Trains Magazine…a Complete collection…The oldest issue dates from 1942 (Feb.) and the newest is the January 2002 issue. What a deal I got…I also have every issue inbetween. Has anyone else come accross anything like that?

Yes - a box of World War I era New Haven RR timetables at a used bookstore.

One of the best deals I got was a huge Rubbermaid container (didn’t get to keep the container) containing over 100 various issues Trains, Railfan & Railroad, Rail Classics (including the very first issue), Railroad Magazine and Railroad Model Craftsman for only $20 Canadian at a used book store. I too love back issues and always buy any I can find cheap. It’s just like getting the latest issue because you’ve never read them, except there’s just so much more to read. Many of the magazines had prices marked on them ranging from 50 cents to $2.00. I guess the guy had them for quite a while and wanted to get rid of them.

Joe, save those magazines! If you don’t have room for them, split them up and give them to friends of yours that are interested in model trains.
