Friday’s News Wire reported that Curt died on Feburary 1. Curt originated the idea of the "Map of the Month " feature and often had the by-line for the feature.
I first met Curt shortly after the feature was started and would often see him at various rail events around the country. It was always a delight to engage him in a conversation about railroads and maps.
Matt Van Hattem put it best. "Curt’s background in geography gave him a unique way of thinking about railroads, and his passion for the industry was infectious, He was a born teacher, always upbeat and personable, and he loved sharing his knowledge of railroads and geography with others.”
