Once you have an idea of the value you have a couple choices. Unless you have something very mint or rare it’s a buyers market for old trains. Expect to get around $.50 on the book value $$ from eBay or $.25 from a reseller like Trainz.
Avoid Craigslist or Facebook. You’ll either get a cherry picker who will only buy something rare or a ‘kid wants a train to run around the tree’ for $25, buyer.
