Trains & Locomotives

This program is on RFD-TV., Mondays at 7pmest., and is repeated Saturday at 9am., I have been watching it for last couple years., just wanted to let yall know it was out there, in case you are interested.

What channel is RFD-TV [?]

Depends on how you watch TV…on Dish network, it’s channel 9409, and is in all the “Packages”. My cousin gets it on DirectTV (Channel 379 according to the RFD_TV web site) . Probably not available in over the air broadcast TV in most places, but a lot of rural area cable networks carry it. Here is a link to their Cable Info page…

It is mainly a station for Farmers and Ranchers, with most of the daytime TV schedule being taken up by live Livestock auctions.

Yeah, RFD-TV is mainly an agricultural channel which, besides the train show, is pretty boring. I’ve really enjoyed watching the train show though, and they’ve played a lot of different things from a lot of different production companies. My only complaint is that throughout most of autumn and a good portion of winter, RFD played nothing but Mark I videos and nothing else, until the point where I began calling it the “Mark I Monopoly”. The last time I watched the train show, it looks like they’ve gone back to playing his videos again. I wonder if he’s made a deal with RFD or something? Not that the Mark I videos are bad or anything, except they only seem to cover historic trains and 1970’s '80’s diesels - not anything real recent. I think you need both historic and modern trains for a good train show.

Recently RFD has shown a series of videos produced by “Del Rey Productions” that I thought were pretty good. I especially liked the “Trains & Treasures of Europe” and “The Coast Starlight” shows. I hope they play some more of them! But I think the Mark I Monopoly has returned…[:-^]

The latest show was Goodheart’s “Best of the Rest” featuring the 261 in 1994 and 1995. Included is rare footage of 261 pulling a 60 car coal drag, 3 engines, and 11 passenger cars by itself (very impressive!!)

I also like the vintage tractor shows they have on there, as well as the classic country shows (Porter Wagoner show, Pop Goes the Country, Ralph Emery Live, etc)

One of their most popular shows is “The Big Joe Polka Show.” Although I’m particular to “Training Mules and Donkeys.” [zzz]

My dad is a faithful watcher of Downunder Horsemanship. Actually, the guy is pretty good…

I’ll have to admit its kinda boring but I do like the old tractor show I don’t remember the name but its kinda neat if you like old tractors, didn’t know they had a railroad segment

I’ve caught Trains & Locomotives quite a few times as of recent. They also show I Love Toy Trains occasionally.

I noticed in a commercial for the station they had a brief clip of Frank Kimmel’s ARCA stock car(#46) and I haven’t seen any motorsports related programming on that channel yet.
