TRAINS Magazine Threatened

As a longtime reader, it was appalling that malfunctions at this website brought me to stunning horror! Massive Internet advertisements for super discounted TRAINS Magazine! TRAINS deserves to make a profit, and such discounts in advertisements destroys those profits and is a disgrace to America itself!

Huh?

Yeah, most of those ā€œsuper discountā€ subscription things are a total scam

Sounds like heā€™s just upset because heā€™s paying more. Doesnā€™t understand the concept that a business needs to discount new users to try something new. This is very common throughout the business world.

I imagine this was a satirical post.

I wouldnā€™t be so sure. Were you around for the Nikon posts?

ā€œSounds like ā€¦ā€

It is beyond me how you reached your conclusion. Are you OK?

York:

I would caution you about letting you mind run wild.

My trying to be positive and promote TRAINS has resulted in weird, totally unexpected post-replies. Now it is understood why super great threads of the past have or are dying!

Well ā€¦ thatā€™s a new one for me. My mind has trouble running normally, let alone running wild.

Iā€™m fine thank you for asking.

You do realize that Craig regularly posts here, and if Trains Magazine were actually ā€œthreatenedā€ in any way resulting from subscription numbers ā€“ or anything else ā€“ weā€™d likely be among the first to know?

This is no longer Kalmbach Media with their weird plans to monetize ā€˜railfan engagementā€™ without actually spending money on things that were free. The owner is actually on your side now.

Iā€™d suggest you think about the confrontational style you posted, thatā€™s probably why you get the responses you get. A little less hyperbole and a little more reasoned presentation would probably yield a different response.

Sarcasm, and irony are very, very difficult to convey in writing, and usually read completely differently than intended. And when people try to be funny on forums, theyā€™re most often not.

To be completely honest, that post was largely incomprehensible.

croteasdd Would you mind explaining what your ranting about ? as you may notice most of us donā€™t understand what you talking about ?? Thanks

Why interact, maybe if we all ignore theyā€™ll go away

When the post is intended to be sarcasm - putting [/sarcasm] at the end of it removes all doubt.

Hi Dan!

No, I thought the post was rather clear and understandable.

Your problem may be from a phenomenon that started when I subscribed to I think ā€˜Train Octopus Website.ā€™ The hostility there was chronic and continual. Then the hostility started here at TRAINS too! Either a whole super bunch of good posters left or a whole bunch of radicals moved in. I thought too maybe that other site was infested with drug dealers that didnā€™t like those not interest in using drugs. And druggies would have a hard time understanding our posts and lingo ā€¦

Some here likely remember K.P. that posted thousands of photos at this TRAINS website for the benefit of followers. I tend to agree with him now that posting is not worth the effort and something weird is going on.

So, RioGrandeDan, it is hoped this gives you a good picture of the situation, and it is understandable.

But what was your original post about? It may have been clear and understandable to you, but as you can see, it wasnā€™t clear to many of us.

I donā€™t think heā€™s going to find what heā€™s looking for. Start using emojis and maybe everyone can understand the intention of the words better.
