Trains News Wire EXCLUSIVE: A decade after retirement, LRC restoration reaches milestone

My god! That is good news. Awesome work. I remember when I was a kid, my dad brought me to Québec city near the Gare du Pala is where the LRC train was expose to the public. Good old memories

Yeah Jason (and team)!

How many Alco/Montreal RS-3’s are preserved? Just RS-3’s, not RS-2’s or any 6 axle variant. How many passenger and how many freight?

Shron is right. More diesel locomotives have to be preserved as time goes by. I hope there will be no shortage of preserved equipment built from the 1960s and onward, compared to equipment from the steam era.

I remember questioning: “Why save a Wabash E-8?” Well, that was over forty years ago and there were still E-8’s running around. For some reason the concept of “For posterity” didn’t dawn on me. Of course that is so clear to me the desirability of preserving equipment which is still around because when it’s gone; it’s gone forever.

They say there are 3 f40s preserved, but only stated the location of 2 of them. Where is the 3rd unit?

Congrats to Jason’s team to bring an LRC back to life!

This story was very informative. Special locomotives deserve all the love in the world. But, an SD-40? Lets not go crazy!!
