Trains News Wire EXCLUSIVE: Canadian Pacific replaces Milwaukee-area overpass, Amtrak affected

Here is one area of passenger operations of Amtrak that I have BIG problems with! A year ago I traveled Amtrak’s Coast Starlight from Los Angeles to Martinez. One of the very FIRST announcements made by the crew EVEN PRIOR to departure from LA was that the train would be very full and passengers must not use the seat beside themselves for storage. (One passenger/one seat.) Sure enough, all along the route at every station there were large numbers of passengers to board (and of course get off). How did Amtrak handle this situation? By boarding all passengers at each stop via ONE (1) door! Many stops took 10-20 minutes while this procedure ground along. If there was only one door on the train (NOT) or a extremely short platform (NOT) or only one Amtrak employee per train (NOT) I could understand but …If this is some archaic work rule or security driven procedure it is ludicrous!

Very nice ,something to remember of an era gone for ever.
Those whistles still leave a chill. Thanks
