The CN-WC ore car trains have the most derailments. There is never a derailment on the CN-GTW lines.
This DM&IR SD40-3 could be sent to the Lake Superior Railway Museum after repairs.
Locomotive and 50 cars were derailed. Were they going that fast that they couldn’t stop the train ?
I suspect that Doug has forgotten how short those ore cars are.
Fortunately it does not look like anyone was injured. The problem with looking for pictures is if doesn’t bleed it won’t lead. So the local newspaper didn’t send a photographer.
Where is the article on the derailment? Would like a little info.
Another day, another CN derailment. And people think I’m crazy for questioning why they have derailments so often…
And just how fast do you expect a 15,000+ ton train to stop? It would t stop THAT fast at 10 MPH!
I was looking at the train accident in an accident in texas on bnsf where three trains met last year on youtube. 4 people were injured it stated and it didnt look that it damaged that many cars. Here in Californian bnsf often run there trains at 70 mph or near that. In the youtube video I see only see a few cars damaged, in pentrex videos they state that the train is 4000 tons with 4 or 6 locos (bnsf). Iam no engneer ,I dont think I have seen a 15000 ton train out here on bnsf or up in California. It very difficult to get in front of a train going 70 mph and stay a head to to take video of it.
I don’t know SD40-3’s, looks to me that’s a SD-45 T-2, which would be ex- S.P., uhm anyone, am I correct?
