I continue to admire the owner of Leviathan for his determination to complete such an ambitious …and successful project!
Disneyworld North! Such silliness.
Love those Americans!
Actually the D&H built the line extension between North Creek and Tahawus during WWII to serve the ilmenite mine. The Adirondac co. was built as part of a land speculation scheme and never built more than about 3 miles beyond North Creek. The reason for the extra mileage was to satisfy a requirement in their charter to construct a line of 60 miles in length.
Actually it was the D&H that built the line extension between North Creek and Tahawus during WWII to serve the ilmenite mine. The Adirondac co. did build about 3 miles beyond North Creek, but this was done to satisfy a requirement in their charter to construct a line 60 miles in length. The charter extension saw no regular service, and was scrapped at an appropriately later date.
This is not Disney World. These are accurate replicas of 19th century locomotives, and they are beautiful!
