Seattle provides specials for game day service, post season too. For Mariners Sunday game day specials too. Post season, not do much
A major item left out of the VTA article is that both Amtrak and The ACE trains stop at The Great America station. Which is just below the overpass that The VTA runs on. Walking distance to the Levi stadium. So there are numerous ways by train to get there. The ACE train runs from Stockton to San Jose and Amtrak’s Capitol corridor trains and Coast Starlight stop here. DH
The new stadium is being built where my corporate offices were for years. The smart move would be to “plan” of a lot more patrons going to the game and over loading the system with backup trains to verify the actual loading they will get. If they don’t do that and the cars are over loaded and late it will kill the urge to use the train. Look at the fiasco that happened for the Super Bowl game when 3 times as many riders showed up as they expected.
Go for it, VTA! Pittsburgh, PA’s PAAC light rail stations serve the Steelers’ Heinz Field, the Pirates’ PNC Park and, a bit more distantly, the Penguins’ arena. Two-car trains are consistently packed on game days. Other cities have their own success stories. So will San Jose. But isn’t Levi Strauss rolling in his grave that a stadium bearing his name is in San Jose, not in his own San Francisco? Oh well, we know who’s wearing the pants
Someone enlighten me…when I lived in the bay area the peninsula ran basically North & South. This article talks East & west…?
Denver’s RTD light rail stops at the Pepsi Center (basketball, hockey) and within easy walking distance of the Broncos’ football stadium. Union station is an easy walk to Coors Field (baseball).
RR directions on Peninsula follow former SP convention - toward San Francisco is west and away is east.
Sorry about the ACE trains Dan, they only run during the weekdays and unless they schedule football game day specials are of no use. Amtrak’ Capitols yes, but what about Monday night games; will Amtrak hold the last train or not?
Hello,Steve I talked with ACE reps this morning at an event and they said they do have plans to run on certain weekends for football games. if all goes well the fans in the central valley should be able to ride The ACE to the games and back. Dan
Why isn’t the 49r organization paying for some of the improvements? Given the paucity of events, it benefits them more than the overall public.
