I would not miss this even for my own funeral. A once in a lifetime opportunity. The PA and 611 are icing on the cake.

What route is the PA-1 using to get from Chicago to Spencer ? Were they able to get it running for this trip ?

Chicago to Spencer?Probably the old Nickel Plate from Chicago to Muncie, the old PRR from Mincie to Cincinnati, then the old Southern from Cincy to Spencer

Glad this is all happening, even more so down South. For all attending or enjoying these locomotives remember the old WSB radio slogan “Welcome South Brother”!!!

Too bad none of these are pulling excursions on the way!

Who pays for the moves? Spencer? The owners? Do the railroads moving the locos do it for free?

FOR THOSE THAT ALSO HAVE A AIRCRAFT BACKGROUND, THE BACK HOUSE HAS PIEDMONT AIRLINES DC-3 FROM THE RAFTERS.

MY major hope is that this will be treated to the ‘feast of photography’, and videos that the NS’s Heritage Display was done at the Round House at Spencer… That would be the ‘cherry’ on top of the sundae for those of us unable to attend… 2014 is turning out to be a terrific year for the Rail Fan Community!

@Frank Sobel, the NKP PA has had its prime mover successfully started and run, but she can’t move under her own power just yet.

well look at this way people, when was the last time if ever, were there this many first generation diesels in one place at one time? Just enjoy the pageant and don’t sweat the small stuff. The PA unit is the star even if it isn’t running yet. Thank you Doyle McCormick Go get those photos guys and be sure to share them with those of us who can’t be there.

My guess would be NS Chicago to Elkhart. The NS has a train that runs from Elkhart to Linwood. Same train the 515 took.

@ Frank… the PA-1 runs, but I think it needs some finish engine house work.
The Anthracite F units from the B and A, That just finished F"3"B unit. No. 664B, is former B&M 4268B ( a F7B) and was at one time used with B&M F7 4268 ( Former EMD DEmo #930). The 4268A Sits in North Conway, NH awaiting its donated Prime mover and traction motors from a NHN Railroad Geep to be installed.

Was in Lisle, IL, yesterday afternoon (18 May) at the High School and the PA went by eastbound on a BNSF stack train. Happened so fast and so unexpectedly that I couldn’t get a picture. So it at least was in the Chicago area yesterday.

This event is worth viewing. Just think, to see all this at one location, without traveling all over the U.S… WHY must we complain because a little paint is missing, and etc…

From the comments I’ve heard the frustrations, other than the weather, which occurred at the Heritage unit event are correctable so let us hope the effort has been made. It was a great idea and should be a great event.
