This area is north of Lake Huron, and somewhat east of Lake Superior.
Don’t railroads normally send out a hi-railer to check the tracks after a big storm?
Sending out Hi-Railers to inspect the track COSTS MONEY. Send a train out and let them do it…and this is what happens.
Like the Fram filter ad said years ago…‘Pay me now or pay me later’.
May not have been a big storm but rather a new beaver dam built overnight or a washout of an exiting beaver dam.
Great photo!
Still, you’d think sending out one Hirailer would cost far less than what it’s costing to clean up this mess! Hope the diesels get returned to service; damage looks minor.
You only need to look at a map to see that this railway is not “north of Lake Superior”. It is north of Lake Huron. The west end of the railway reaches the southeastern shore of Lake Superior at Sault Ste. Marie
This is in my back yard. It was a brutal winter with a huge amount of snow. When the melt came about half the snow melted and then it started to rain. But the ground was still frozen so the water had nowhere to go. As a result you get this.
