Trains News Wire EXCLUSIVE: Streamliner tours Wisconsin & Southern rails for ‘rare mileage’

I spent my youth growing up in the village of Black Earth, Wisconsin which is located on the former Milwaukee Road Madison-Prairie du Chien line. It is certainly great to hear about a passenger train traveling over the route of the Sioux and Marquette passenger trains of the Milwaukee Road.

Great photo!

Just still in awe of seeing brown and orange ride the rails again. I grew up on the IC main line and saw the Panama Limited, City of New Orleans and other IC passenger trains on almost a daily basis. I though those days were past. I am thankful Iowa Pacific for resurrection .

I was fortunate enough to be in Oklahoma City right after the OK “excursion trips”, and was able to witness some of these passenger cars being attached to Amtrak’s Heartland Flyer for the morning trip to Ft. Worth TX.

Had a chance to ride that trainset last month, definitely 1st class all the way and Smooth sailing!

Always helpfull to hear about things AFTER they have happened

Suppose I need to start looking at some of these charter websites, would be nice to know about some of these trips ahead of time, instead of after-the-fact …

I agree with the two previous gentlemen. I would like to hear about these opportunities before they are history. Can anyone help me out. Paul F. Niquette

This rare mileage trip through Southern Wisconsin was a treat. I had a chance to make the trip one way. Growing up near Madison, WI brought back many memories as a young boy boarding the Milwaukee Road passenger trains at the Madison Depot on West Washington Ave in Madison and taking a weekend trip to Chicago with my parents and sister and family friends. If we only had rail passenger service restored back to Madison from Chicago. Think of the possibilities. I would take the train any day versus driving.

I grew up a C&O and GTW fan…but I have always admired IC service. Absolutely beautiful.
