Was a very long ride down there from Northern, NH /Maine Border but was a Great Time!!, Great Host, and Lots to see and do… Very Impressed, and cant wait for the book I pre ordered!!
This was a once in a lifetime event! If you weren’t there you missed it. Photos won’t do it justice.

Mr. Solberg, Rochelle is not on the same line as Union. 411 would have to backtrack to West Chicago and head up the Belvidere sub if it went there. I think IRM wants it home for the UP employees event this weekend, though.
It was quite an event and I’m glad I was able to attend last Friday. I enjoyed getting to talk very briefly with Jim Wrinn. I appreciate those who worked hard to make this event happen.

I hope Trains devotes many pages in an upcoming issue to this once in a lifetime event!! On the other hand, just about everybody had a huge camera ( or 2!) so I am sure great pictures will abound.

Is the CNW f7 heading to Rochelle railroad days this week it’s on the way back home.
Ok I was just thinking it be cool they put a actually CNW units on display.
My wife and I really enjoyed the displays…the model train displays were great, especially the Lionel and G scale displays…and the streamliners were fantastic!
That was an AWESOME event! Uploading videos right now! I’m ready to do it again. Next time with Steam Locos.

So how will they top this event? I suggest a steam fest after the 611 is restored. I wonder how many steamers they could assemble? How about including the finest 3 examples of modern steam power - the A, the J, and the Y? It would be nice to have all three in operating condition as the east coast’s answer to 844, 3985, and 4014. Is there an Elon Musk out there who could make that happen?
I vote for Northern’s at Spencer get as many 4-8-4 steam locomotives there you can they can run excursion to there and back. It be the ultimate event it be a nice welcome back for 611.
