Trains News Wire EXCLUSIVE: Water woes plague Southwestern Railroad

I cannot help but wonder if a comprehensive survey of weak spots in the infrastructure is being undertaken in relation to extreme weather rather than what appears to be more reactive in a sort of crisis management mode that is more common than not.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure?

The Southwestern Railroad’s end of track is in Loving, NM. The Texas-New Mexico Railroad terminates in Lovington, NM.

The railroads pay for what Mother Nature does to them in the way of weather damage, but the highway crowd line-up to be spoon fed from the government till. Blessed be free enterprise!!!

The storm effects were very widespread and not restricted to the railroad. The rain was steady and essentially continuous for long periods at a time. Once the ground was saturated there was nothing but runoff. Those factors allied with the regional topography and available access make it very difficult to deal with this set of conditions. As a resident next to a SWRR mile post in the affected area, it appears to me that SWRR is doing everything they can to deal with the situation in a prompt and efficient manner.
