I went to the Amtrak Depot in Shelby, MT yesti’day to get a ‘Fall-winter’ National/System Timetable. The agent told me they might be out in January. Cool! I do miss the era of David Gunn. I’d meet him, at least twice-a-year, in Shelby, or other places, including CHI. Seems to me that Mr. Boardman has a “Dugout Doug” (MacArthur) attitude. I have never heard of him being ‘on-the-road’, except for political trips. Bring back David Gunn!

I do wonder what DPM is thinking about what is happening to his beloved TRAINS with all this political snipping and fault finding.
The shortage of equipment can be laid at the foot of Amtrak. If they had kept the Hi-Level equipment and some of the newer Budd Domes and sleepers there would be no shortage of equipment. It would have been far cheaper to upgrade the older equipment than run short of equipment like today’s Amtrak. If Via Rail Canada could do it we could. But no they wanted to show the taxpayers all of this gleaming new equipment.
